Originally built in the 1950s, the Banner Boswell Medical Center project included expanding and upgrading the emergency department, a new lobby for the emergency department, a new five-story patient tower and updates to the central plant to ensure the new areas operated successfully. McCarthy identified significant potential coordination challenges and determined that team coordination could be improved by getting all teams to work within one cloud environment and ensure teams all have access to the latest model at key moments.By integrating VDC into the building process, all design team, trade partners and MEP were able to work from a single source of truth. The cloud based model allowed all teams to access the latest plans at any time and saved the client approximately 5,400 hours, or $270,000, across the entire project.

5,400 labor-hours saved throughout project using McCarthy’s cloud-based proactive approach
